CBS announced today it has picked up Medium for a sixth season to air from 2009-2010. NBC originally held the airing rights to the series but decided to cancel the show on May 19th, 2009 even though it was one of their highest rated program.
NBC executives say the reason for the cancellation of the show was due to the slow erosion of ratings during season 5 and the decision over the episode count. The following day, May 20th, 2009 CBS announced they would be picking up the series from season 6 onwards. CBS already owned rights to the show as they produced it and until now it was the only CBS made program not to originally air on CBS.
The series will now air on Friday’s at 9.00 PM on CBS starting in either September 2009 or the show may be held back as a mid season replacement to air in January 2010.
