The Machine spits out the number of Tommy Clay, a man who works for armored services. Finch assumes he will be robbed. Reese is sent as a recruit to follow Tommy to learn about him. After many stops, Finch realizes the robbery will happen after they retrieve platinum which can sell for 1.2 million dollars. After they leave they are shocked as there were no robbers but the vehicle explodes. Reese goes out to shoot the robbers, but is shot by Clay, who also kills the armored car’s driver. Reese awakes in a hospital and talks with Carter.

A memory is shown with Reese and his old partner given orders to go to China to retrieve a computer which was taken from the CIA. After he is given orders about the retrieval, he is told to kill his partner, who has been compromised, after they are done. They go to China to find out there was a genocide. They retrieve the computer and wait for dark. Back to the modern day, Finch finds out that Clay has a second phone and tracks it down, but the co-ordinates lead to a motel, where his two partners in crime have been killed.

Fusco arrives, revealing that that part of the money from the stolen heist was supposed to go the corrupt cops. Finch has learned that Clay’s password for everything is “Ashley.” Ashley is the name of a waitress with whom Clay was having an affair. Reese talks to Ashley and she claims that Clay has abandoned her. Reese finds Clay but Ashley (the mastermind of the robbery) arrives and points a gun at Reese. They tie Reese up. Reese realizes that Clay is not only a perpetrator, but also a victim, just before Clay is killed by Ashley. Ashley leaves with the platinum, but is killed by Fusco’s boss, a member of HR, a group of corrupt cops.

Fusco’s boss is about to kill Reese but Fusco kills his boss with Ashley’s gun. Back to the memory, Reese hesitates and is shot by his partner, and his partner says that he has been compromised. Reese realizes that they were both wanted dead and warns his partner that she has just set off a beacon which will was meant to lead to their deaths. Reese runs off and watches the building explode. The CIA uncover a lead that a CIA operative may have escaped China, and track the agent’s possible location to a hotel.

Agent Snow and Evans go to inspect, but are both shot and Reese’s partner appears from a closet and says “We have some catching up to do.”
