While meeting in the cafeteria, the study group reveal their plans for Christmas. Some are spending time away, disappointing Abed (Danny Pudi), who had wished to spend the holidays with the group, even renting the critically reviled Inspector Spacetime holiday special to watch with them. Their conversation is interrupted by a performance by the obnoxious Greendale glee club. Midway through, Chang (Ken Jeong) stops them with a cease and desist order from ASCAP—tipped off by Jeff (Joel McHale)—for performing copyrighted music without permission. The glee club members suffer a nervous breakdown and are taken to hospital.

The glee club instructor, Mr. Rad (Taran Killam), invites the group to join and perform the Christmas pageant but is rebuffed promptly due to their collective dislike for the club. However, through a series of events performed as songs, the group are lured into joining the club one by one.

“Glee”: Mr. Rad manages to convince Abed to join the club by tapping into Abed’s desire to spend Christmas with the group.
“Jahovah’s Secret Witness”: Troy (Donald Glover) is next to join when Abed reaches out to his desire to celebrate Christmas with the group despite being a Jehovah’s Witness.
“Baby Boomer Santa”: Troy and Abed exploit Pierce’s (Chevy Chase) baby boomer narcissism.
“Teach Me How To Understand Christmas”: Before this song, Annie (Alison Brie) catches the glee club virus after being cornered by Troy, Abed, and Mr. Rad. She then dresses up in a sexy Santa outfit to seduce Jeff.
“Happy Birthday Jesus”: Pierce invites a children’s choir to sing to Shirley about how the public school system has thrown out the meaning of Christmas (the birth of Jesus) during its celebrations. Unable to resist her religious fervor, Shirley springs into song, proclaiming “Happy Birthday Jesus!”

With Britta (Gillian Jacobs) the only non-glee club member left, she seeks out Jeff, only to find that he too has been turned.

As the group are backstage preparing for the Christmas pageant, Mr. Rad informs Abed of his long-term intentions for the group. As Abed had only made the group join to brighten up Christmas, he sets forth upsetting Mr. Rad’s plans. While the group performs “Planet Christmas” on stage, he asks Britta (who was originally cast as the mute tree) to replace him as the Mouse King. She does and ruins the pageant due to her poor singing. Despite Mr. Rad’s objections, Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) and the audience supportively cheer on Britta. Mr. Rad then goes irate and inadvertently reveals that he caused the bus crash that killed the glee club members mentioned in “Paradigms of Human Memory”. Abed regretfully concedes that “forcing things to be bright just makes the darkness underneath it even darker.”

Back at the apartment, Abed is watching Inspector Spacetime alone. The group suddenly arrives and announce that after a dark year, they have cancelled their plans in order to spend the holidays with him. The episode ends with them joining him in viewing the Inspector Spacetime holiday special.

“Regional Holiday Music” is the tenth episode of the third season of the American television series Community. It was originally broadcast on December 8, 2011 on NBC and is the final episode before the show goes on hiatus during the 2011–12 midseason.

While the group are hanging out in the student lounge on Friday, a group of German students annoys Jeff (Joel McHale) with their rowdiness while playing foosball. He confronts them and they promise to stop playing if he can score a point on them. He tries but fails, and the German students mock him.

Later in the night, Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) encounters Jeff practicing foosball at the student lounge. She impresses him by showing him some moves, and he solicits her training. Although initially reluctant due to the “dark nature” of the game, Shirley agrees to it. They practice the next day, during which Shirley brings out her ultra-competitive streak. The German trio show up again and agree to a game with Jeff and Shirley on Monday with the losers never getting to use the foosball table again.

Over dinner, Shirley recalls her an incident in her childhood where she (then known as “Big Cheddar”) trashes a boy (derisively called “Tinkletown”) at foosball and makes him pee his pants by jabbing him with the foosball bar in the crotch. Jeff reveals that he was Tinkletown and storms out. Later, Shirley asks Jeff to the student lounge to talk. They end up playing a furious game of foosball, releasing their emotions and opening up to each other.

Meanwhile when Annie (Alison Brie) is cleaning the apartment, she accidentally steps on Abed’s (Danny Pudi) limited-edition The Dark Knight DVD. She plans to secretly replace it, but Troy (Donald Glover) warns against it, asking her to confess. When Abed returns, Annie stages a break-in, making Abed believe that the DVD was stolen. A policeman arrives at the scene but finds no signs of forced entry and concedes that if stolen the DVD will be impossible to recover. Abed concludes that the break-in was an inside job carried out by the landlord, Rick, since Rick has the keys and dressed as the Joker for Halloween.

Abed suits up as Batman and rappels down through the window to Rick’s room. Troy and Annie follow him. Abed confronts Rick about a stolen item, to which Rick replies “in the closet.” Troy and Annie open Rick’s closet and find it full of stolen women’s shoes. Annie also plants the broken DVD there, framing Rick for stealing it. The policeman arrives again to sort out the mess. Back at the apartment, Abed forgives Annie for the mishap.

On Monday, Jeff and Shirley face off with the Germans at foosball. However, they perform a trick to make the ball land right in the middle of the foosball table where bar mounted figures can’t reach. While the Germans frantically try to kick the ball, Jeff and Shirley simply walk off together. The final scene depicts them walking hand-in-hand as children again.

“Foosball and Nocturnal Vigilantism” is the ninth episode of the third season of the U.S. television sitcom Community. It originally aired on December 1, 2011 on NBC.

The Greendale College Board has given Dean Pelton (Jim Rash) $2000 to shoot a new commercial for the college. He enlists the help of the study group, which agrees. Abed (Danny Pudi) declines to participate, but instead shoots a documentary about the commercial’s production. Throughout the episode, Abed asks to remain “invisible” to reduce interaction with the subjects of his documentary.

The Dean makes himself director of the commercial with Annie (Alison Brie) as script supervisor. The rest of the group play roles in the commercial, including Jeff (Joel McHale) (with a bald cap) as the Dean himself. Pierce (Chevy Chase) becomes a diva and locks himself in a trailer “until [he] gets a new one.” Jeff asks to shoot his scenes in front of the school’s Luis Guzmán statue, hoping that Guzmán’s lawyers will force his scenes to be cut due to image rights restrictions. Instead, Guzmán, who turns out to be a Greendale alumnus, decides to play a part in the commercial, to the delight of the Dean.

Dean Pelton decides to overhaul the entire script and production to make it far more elaborate and expensive. Production shuts down all school activities, and other students are chosen to participate in it as well. The Dean becomes overly demanding with the actors, including forcing Britta (Gillian Jacobs) and Troy (Donald Glover) reshoot a hugging scene for 12 hours. Production goes way over budget while the Dean becomes increasingly erratic. Despite predicting that this would happen, Abed declines to intervene to avoid interfering with his documentary’s story. Eventually, the actors and crew crack under the Dean’s demands and abandon him.

Weeks later, Guzmán arrives at Greendale to shoot the commercial. However, upon seeing the Dean’s initial cut, he decides not to be in the commercial. While admonishing Guzmán, the Dean inadvertently insults Greendale, which he instantly regrets. He films a video in which he addresses his insecurities about being dean. He invites the Greendale Board members to view it, but instead a different video—a professionally made Greendale commercial—plays. The board members are impressed.

Abed reveals himself to be the one who made the commercial. In his documentary’s closing statement, Abed says that documentarians are supposed to be objective to avoid having any effect on the story, yet they have the most effect because they decide to tell it.

Finally, the Dean apologizes to the group, which they accept, leading to a group hug. When everyone walks away, Britta and Troy remain hugging. The trailer which Pierce locks himself in ends up in Hollywood for Jeff Garlin’s use. In the final scene, Pierce storms out as Garlin approaches the trailer, stunning Garlin. Garlin then locks himself in the trailer while demanding a new one.

“Documentary Filmmaking: Redux” is the eighth episode of the third season of the U.S. television series Community. It was originally broadcast on November 17, 2011 on NBC.

Annie (Alison Brie) is moving in with Troy (Donald Glover) and Abed (Danny Pudi). The rest of the study group have decided to help her move, except Jeff (Joel McHale), who pretends to be ill and concocts an elaborate plan while shopping for clothes to fool Britta (Gillian Jacobs). While packing at Annie’s old apartment, Britta warns Annie that being roommates with Troy and Abed will not be easy. Troy and Abed wear special T-shirts with a Twitter hashtag—#AnniesMove—for the occasion, and are live-tweeting the event.

Troy and Abed’s childish antics (including using all of Annie’s packing tape to tape Troy on the toilet door) start to annoy Annie, but she tries to play along. Troy damages the apartment’s electrical outlet, and Pierce (Chevy Chase) offers to help her fix it before her landlord comes. Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) is concerned that Annie’s “cohabitation” with Troy and Abed will lead to her moral decay. Britta brushes her off by slamming her religious uptightness.

While shopping, Jeff runs into Dean Craig Pelton (Jim Rash). “Craig” knows that Jeff is avoiding helping Annie move from Troy and Abed’s tweets, and blackmails Jeff into spending the day with him. Jeff reluctantly has lunch with him at a Mexican restaurant and joins him in a green screen karaoke session singing “Kiss from a Rose” in matching outfits. But the Dean lets it slip that their accidental run-in, and day together, only happened because he read Jeff’s Greendale e-mails.

Britta and Shirley ride in the same car on the way to Troy and Abed’s place, and spend the time arguing over religion and morality. Britta picks up a hitchhiker to prove that she is moral without being religious. However, the hitchhiker begins talking about Jesus, to Shirley’s delight and Britta’s dismay. He and Shirley have a friendly chat until he claims to be Jesus himself, which upsets Shirley but delights Britta. The hitchhiker then starts singing a racist song, which horrifies Shirley and Britta, who both scream “Get out!”.

While fixing the electrical outlet, Pierce damages the circuit and the wiring in the wall burns a line down the wallpaper. To cover it up, Pierce decides to paint over the wall. Instead, he makes a mess of the paint and ends up getting high over paint fumes.

Troy and Abed show Annie her new room—a blanket fort. Annie is uncomfortable with it, having been told the apartment has two bedrooms. She discovers the apartment’s second bedroom, which Troy and Abed have decorated into a “Dreamatorium”. This leads to her finally expressing her unhappiness at Troy and Abed’s childishness. She decides to back out on moving in with them.

Troy and Abed eventually decide to give their room to Annie while moving into the blanket fort. Jeff arrives at the apartment and admits that he faked illness to get out of helping. The group forgives him, then reveal that they saw his rendition of “Kiss from a Rose”, which was tweeted by Dean Pelton.

“Studies in Modern Movement” is the seventh episode of the third season of the American sitcom Community. It was originally broadcast on November 10, 2011 on NBC.

Britta (Gillian Jacobs) administered an anonymous psych quiz on the study group, only to find out that one of them could be deeply disturbed. At a Halloween pre-party, she tries to seek out the supposedly homicidal group member by telling the group a horror story and observing their reactions.

Britta tells the group an urban legend about a couple (played by Britta and Jeff (Joel McHale)) making out in a car before being murdered by an escaped psychopath with a hook hand. She asks Abed (Danny Pudi) how he feels. Instead Abed critiques the irrational choices the couple made, and tells a “horror” story of his own. In his story, he and Britta camp out at a log cabin. Abed takes all precautions, including bringing a radio to listen to the news and charging his cell phone. When the escape psychopath threatens, he calls 911, locks the doors and has him and Britta stand back-to-back holding knives.

Annie (Alison Brie) interjects with her own story in which Jeff is a vampire who feeds on a submissive Britta for sustenance. Annie is an innocent schoolteacher who tames Jeff by teaching him how to read. Suddenly, Jeff turns on Annie, who then reveals herself to be a werewolf. Annie the werewolf then mutilates Jeff the vampire.

In Troy’s (Donald Glover) story, he and Abed are lost fighter pilots who seek help from a crazy, old racist doctor, played by Pierce (Chevy Chase). Pierce sedates them and sews their stomachs together. However, this makes Troy and Abed more powerful, and they knock Pierce out with their enhanced mind powers. They then sew Pierce’s buttocks to his chest and replaces his hands with feet, making him unable to touch his new “boobs.”

Pierce then counters with his own story in which he is a stud surrounded by hot women (Annie, Shirley and Britta). When two thugs (Abed and Troy) invade his home, Pierce easily subdues them, including knocking out Troy with his manhood.

In Shirley’s (Yvette Nicole Brown) story, the rapture occurs while the rest of the group indulge in alcohol and marijuana in a cabin. The Devil, played by Dean Pelton (Jim Rash), arrives to welcome them to Hell but is temporarily held off by Shirley, who the group “used to pick on for being Christian.” She rises to Heaven, leaving the group behind to be slaughtered by the Dean.

Britta finally reveals to the group that from the test results, someone is a psychopath, which freaks everyone out. Jeff then tells his own story where the group is attacked by a hookman in a cabin. Jeff interrupts and asks the hookman why he kills people. The hookman then reveals himself to be Chang (Ken Jeong) who just wants a hug. However, Jeff’s story does not calm everyone down.

After checking, Annie finds out that Britta scanned the tests upside down. The corrected results reveal that all but one of the group members are crazy. The group decides not to find out who it is so that they can “hold on to the comforting notion that one of us might be sane.” The final shot reveals that the only sane group member is Abed.

“Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps” is the fifth episode of the third season of the U.S. television series Community. It first aired on October 27, 2011 on NBC and is the series’ 2011 Halloween episode.
