Leslie’s (Amy Poehler) campaign holds a focus group about her, and one participant named Derek (Kevin Dorff) says he won’t vote for Leslie because she doesn’t look like someone who bowls. An offended Leslie becomes determined to win Derek’s vote by having her campaign hold a bowling night, although Ben (Adam Scott) tries to explain that there will be voters who simply won’t like her. Meanwhile, Jerry (Jim O’Heir) organizes an all-night campaign fundraising event at Andy (Chris Pratt) and April’s (Aubrey Plaza) house, with two movie tickets going to the person who raises the most money. Chris (Rob Lowe) wants to win so he can take his girlfriend (and Jerry’s daughter) Millie (Sarah Wright) out, and April wants to win just to make the optimistic Chris sad.

At the bowling night, Tom (Aziz Ansari) embarrasses Ron (Nick Offerman) and Ann (Rashida Jones) with his child-like bowling technique, but it proves very effective and he scores higher than Ron; Tom later injures his finger when getting his ball and it is unclear if Ron let the accident happen out of jealousy. Leslie challenges Derek to a game of bowling and lets him win while giving him free food and beer. He still refuses to vote for Leslie, angering her and challenging him to a rematch that she wins. An angry Derek calls Leslie a bitch, resulting in Ben punching him out. A smitten Leslie kisses Ben over a bloody Derek, of which a newspaper photographer takes a picture.

Chris, who is well in the fundraising lead, announces that he is going to ask Millie to move in with him, but Jerry privately reveals to everyone else that Millie is planning to end the relationship; she later shows up and does so, causing Chris to leave. April wins the tickets, but feels guilty that her wish to see Chris sad came true. The next day, she buys a third ticket and offers a depressed Chris to join her and Andy at the movies, giving him a quick hug. Leslie refuses to accept Ben’s resignation over the punch and holds a press conference to apologize to Derek, but she tells the reporters that she won’t apologize because Derek was a jerk and Ben was right to defend her honor. At a focus group about the press conference, the participants give Leslie very favorable opinions.

Ron later returns to the bowling alley in disguise and tries out Tom’s technique, bowling a perfect game.

“Bowling for Votes” is the thirteenth episode of the fourth season of the American comedy television series Parks and Recreation, and the 59th overall episode of the series. It originally aired on NBC in the United States on January 26, 2012.

Bobby Newport (Paul Rudd), a member of Pawnee’s influential Newport family, has entered into the race for city council and is immediately way ahead of Leslie in the polls, despite his complete lack of experience or interest in politics. Meanwhile, Andy (Chris Pratt), who has health insurance for the first time, meets with Dr. Harris (Cooper Thornton) about a possible concussion, but learns he has acquired numerous ailments and injuries over the years and spends the day with April (Aubrey Plaza) visiting specialists at the hospital. Chris (Rob Lowe) asks for Ron’s (Nick Offerman) help in delivering bad budget news, which the anti-government Ron is happy to do, but he is uncomfortable when Chris asks him out to lunch afterwards.

Since Bobby refuses to have a debate with Leslie, Ben (Adam Scott) decides that Leslie (Amy Poehler) should air a negative campaign ad on television during the halftime of the highly-rated Pawnee vs. Eagleton high school basketball game. Leslie is uneasy about it as she always dreamed of running a clean campaign, but Ben says that pointing out Bobby’s obvious flaws is the only way to help her poll numbers. Leslie decides to make a positive ad about herself while Ben makes the negative ad, letting the parks department decide which one to air; they all vote on Ben’s very effective attack ad. Ron continues to avoid Chris’ overtures of friendship, and Donna (Retta) guesses that Chris misses Ben, who was his closest friend at city hall and was always the one to deliver bad news. To solve the problem, Ron introduces Chris to Kyle (Andy Forrest), but Chris reveals he was not looking for a friend: he was scouting Ron to see if he would be a good replacement for Ben’s old job as Assistant City Manager.

Ben is about to deliver the ad to the television station but Leslie tackles him; they ultimately miss the window to air the spot. Leslie apologizes but says she cannot forsake her morals, so the two work together to make a more effective positive ad for Leslie which they post on YouTube. The ad is well-received and garners the attention of Bobby, who asks Leslie to drop out of the race and throws a whiny tantrum when she refuses. Meanwhile, Andy is shocked that his co-pay is $500 because of all the doctors that he visited. He and April flee without paying, but Andy immediately runs into an ambulance and is brought back to the hospital.

“Campaign Ad” is the twelfth episode of the fourth season of the American comedy television series Parks and Recreation, and the 58th overall episode of the series. It originally aired on NBC in the United States on January 19, 2012.

Leslie (Amy Poehler) and the parks department are planning a big comeback for Leslie’s campaign. She asks Ann (Rashida Jones) to be her campaign manager, turning down Ann’s suggestion of the unemployed and experienced Ben (Adam Scott) since his presence may remind voters of their scandal. They all decide she should give a speech during a high school basketball game, and Ann manages to land high school basketball legend “Pistol” Pete Disellio. Pete will endorse Leslie, but he refuses to allow the campaign to associate him with basketball or even use his nickname since he is tired of the town always bringing up his one famous game, and he continues to open up more about his life problems to an uncomfortable Ann.

Chris (Rob Lowe) visits Ben at his home, where he sees Ben very involved in a variety of hobbies, such as claymation and calzone making, neither of which are very good. Chris guesses that Ben is actually very depressed and is using the hobbies as a distraction, but doesn’t say anything and decides to let Ben figure it out for himself.

Meanwhile, as the parks department is driving to the sports complex, they are pulled over by a police officer who makes them abandon the vehicle due to Ron (Nick Offerman) not being licensed to drive the truck. They are forced to leave behind most of the supplies and cram into a car. Leslie discovers that April (Aubrey Plaza) failed to learn when she booked the rally that the basketball court had been converted into an ice hockey rink. Even worse, due to most of the supplies being abandoned, only a portion of Leslie’s campaign banner is displayed and the podium is built without stairs.

When Leslie goes out on the ice to give her speech, Tom’s (Aziz Ansari) red carpet ends abruptly, so she and the whole department slip and fall all the way to the podium, while Andy (Chris Pratt) and April’s new dog Champion pees all over Ron. Leslie finally gets to the podium, but her index cards are out of order and her speech falls flat.

Suddenly, Pete arrives – having sorted out his issues with Ann – and endorses Leslie to the crowd’s delight. Pete attempts to dunk, but he immediately slips and breaks his arm. The event is a complete disaster. Ben eventually realizes how pathetic his life has become after showing Chris a five second claymation video that took him three weeks to produce. Chris cheers Ben up and Ben is touched by his friend’s efforts to help. He later accepts an offer from Leslie to become her new campaign manager.

“The Comeback Kid” is the eleventh episode of the fourth season of the American comedy television series Parks and Recreation, and the 57th overall episode of the series. It originally aired on NBC in the United States on January 12, 2012.

Leslie (Amy Poehler) is serving a two-week suspension from her job, but keeps sneaking back into her office to do work, although Chris (Rob Lowe) keeps catching her and kicking her out of city hall. She decides to use the free time to focus on her campaign for city council, but her advisors William (Johnny Sneed) and Elizabeth (Antonia Raftu) suggest that she relax until post-scandal poll numbers are released. At Ben’s (Adam Scott) suggestion, Leslie forms a citizens action committee to keep busy and continue involvement with the local government. She names it the Parks Committee of Pawnee (PCP).

Ben has resigned as Assistant City Manager and is looking for an accounting job, meeting with cologne maker Dennis Feinstein (Jason Mantoukas) and accountant Barney Varmn (John Balma), but he is not interested in either. Like every Christmas, everyone in the parks department receives extremely thoughtful gifts from Leslie. Ann (Rashida Jones) suggests they all work together to give Leslie a great gift, and they all decide to make her a miniaturized city hall made of gingerbread.

The PCP become a loud and growing presence at town meetings and at Chris’ job thanks to Leslie’s leadership. However her optimism is crushed when she learns that her poll numbers have taken a staggering hit due to the scandal, causing William and Elizabeth to quit. Chris feels responsible for derailing Leslie’s campaign and ends her suspension. Meanwhile, Ben decides to take the job at Barney’s accounting firm, but he later bumps into Jean-Ralphio (Ben Schwartz), who uncharacteristically gives Ben inspiring advice to follow his dreams and not settle. Ben turns down the job offer, unsure but excited about his next step.

Leslie returns to city hall and is pleasantly surprised by the gingerbread city hall. Ron (Nick Offerman) tells her the parks department has another gift: they will become her new campaign staff. Leslie is deeply touched. Meanwhile, Barney hires Jean-Ralphio, but his attitude and complete lack of experience has him fired within seconds.

“Citizen Knope” is the tenth episode of the fourth season of the American comedy television series Parks and Recreation, and the 56th overall episode of the series. It originally aired on NBC in the United States on December 8, 2011.

Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Ben (Adam Scott) reveal their romantic relationship to Chris (Rob Lowe), who reluctantly launches a full investigation and prepares an ethics trial for the two, with Leslie’s trial first. Chris is depressed that he has to prosecute Leslie and Ben and fights his sadness by taking an obscenely large amount of herbal medicine and supplements.

Leslie admits to the relationship to the committee but insists that she never did anything unethical. Chris not only intends to prove that Leslie received special treatment from Ben because of their relationship, but that it also started earlier than she stated and that she may even be guilty of bribery. He has several witnesses lined up which offends Leslie, but Chris says that it is his job as City Manager to fully investigate to prevent corruption.

Leslie successfully proves over the course of the trial that she never received special treatment from Ben and that their relationship did not begin earlier than she stated. However, Chris’ last witness is the maintenance worker that witnessed Leslie and Ben kissing in the episode Li’l Sebastian. Since they gave him a gift certificate in exchange for his silence, Leslie and Ben technically bribed him.

Realizing her job is at stake, Leslie and the parks department scramble to find a loophole in the law, but Ron (Nick Offerman) tells Leslie to just admit guilt. Everyone in the parks department assures Leslie that they will still respect her. Leslie admits she bribed the maintenance worker to the committee, but her punishment is merely a two week suspension with pay; Chris reveals that Ben called a private meeting, took full responsibility for the bribe, and resigned as Assistant City Manager.

After the trial, Chris apologizes to Leslie and explains that he was just doing his job, and tells her that Ben said something during the meeting that she will want to hear. The court stenographer, Ethel Beavers, reads the transcript, revealing that Ben has no regrets about losing his job because he loves Leslie. Leslie says the same thing on record and has Ethel read it to Ben.

“The Trial of Leslie Knope” is the ninth episode of the fourth season of the American comedy television series Parks and Recreation, and the 55th overall episode of the series. It originally aired on NBC in the United States on December 1, 2011.

Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Ben (Adam Scott) have collaborated on a project to establish the smallest park in Indiana. However, Ben tells Leslie that he plans to focus on other departments after it opens because he is sadly reminded of their failed romantic relationship when he’s around her. Leslie decides to delay the opening of the park for as long as possible so they can keep working together. Chris (Rob Lowe) asks Tom (Aziz Ansari) and Jerry (Jim O’Heir) to create a new logo for the parks department, which is basically just choosing a new font, but Tom wants to do much more. Andy (Chris Pratt) plans to go back to college, starting with one class.

April (Aubrey Plaza) suggests that Andy take an easy class for a high grade, while Ron (Nick Offerman) suggests Andy challenge himself with a tougher class. Andy finds the easy class and tougher class equally boring, so Andy randomly chooses Intro to Women’s Studies, which he finds fascinating. Unfortunately, he cannot afford the money to register, but Ron decides to pay for his class. Meanwhile, Tom goes overboard with Chris’ project, making plans to remodel existing parks and pitch a reality show. Jerry warns that Tom’s outlandish thinking was what doomed Tom’s company, Entertainment 720. Tom is depressed about his future as a mindless bureaucrat, but when he sees Jerry’s first ID card from 1977, he becomes inspired by its font. He pitches the font for the new logo, along with a line of limited edition merchandise based on it, which are well-received by Chris.

Leslie holds a public forum on the smallest park and tries to make it as long as possible, but is annoyed when the usually cantankerous Pawnee townspeople are supportive of the park and the forum ends quickly. Leslie distributes flyers the town stating that the park will hold loud events and other falsehoods, prompting a protest demanding an environmental impact report which will take a year to release, allowing Leslie and Ben to keep working together. Ben disperses the protestors by refuting all of Leslie’s claims, and tells Chris that he no longer wants to work with Leslie because she never respects his wishes and always demands things her way.

Ann (Rashida Jones) tells Leslie that Ben is right about her overbearing need to have things her way, but after seeing how sad she is, Ann privately asks Ben to talk to Leslie. Ben meets with Leslie at the smallest park where the two reluctantly agree to keep their distance from each other. As Ben prepares to leave, Leslie says that she wants him back and doesn’t care if it will jeopardize her city council campaign or her job. The two kiss, ready to face the consequences of their relationship.

“Smallest Park” is the eighth episode of the fourth season of the American comedy television series Parks and Recreation, and the 54th overall episode of the series. It originally aired on NBC in the United States on November 17, 2011.

Leslie (Amy Poehler) has been asked to lead a session of Pawnee Central High School’s Model UN club. She invites Ben (Adam Scott), April (Aubrey Plaza), and Andy (Chris Pratt) to join her. Leslie is assigned Denmark, Ben is assigned Peru, Andy is assigned Finland, and April is assigned South Africa on the condition that she also be assigned the moon. The Model UN’s task that afternoon is to solve a food crisis. Leslie is glad that she and Ben are getting along as friends, but Ben has reservations about it.

When Leslie leaves a treaty meeting with Peru for a photo op for her city council campaign, Ben becomes annoyed as it represents why Leslie ended their romantic relationship, so he agrees to a treaty that excludes Denmark. Ben tells Leslie that he is not comfortable with them just being friends and calls her selfish for trying to have both him and her campaign. Angry, Leslie declares war on Peru.

Ron (Nick Offerman) has been interviewing replacements for Tom’s (Aziz Ansari) old job. Ron actually wants Tom back, and although Tom claims to have moved onto new ventures after the failure on Entertainment 720, Ron knows that he is actually working retail at Macy’s. Ron interviews many poor candidates to agitate Tom into returning, but it does not work. Meanwhile, Chris’ (Rob Lowe) girlfriend Millie (Sarah Wright) has stopped returning his calls, so he asks Jerry (Jim O’Heir), his ex-girlfriend Ann (Rashida Jones), and Donna (Retta) for advice.

Leslie and Ben rally support to their respective countries for the war and completely ignore the food crisis. The event spirals out of control and the Model UN eventually ejects Denmark and Peru, kicking out Leslie and Ben. April arranges for the two to talk in private, where Ben suggests that they avoid each other from now on. Leslie wants to keep Ben in her life, so the two compromise to have a friendly chat at work for a few minutes each day. They apologize to the Model UN by organizing a state-wide Model UN that will be held at Pawnee city hall in a few months.

Chris is told that his overbearing optimistic personality may be scaring off Millie. Ann says her old relationship with Chris failed because he tried to change her lifestyle to match his own, but he became bored since he was basically dating himself. Tom admits to Ron that he does not want to crawl back to his old job, so Ron pretends to beg Tom to take the position in front of others. Despite this, Tom still says no, angering Ron so much that he forces Tom to beg for his old job in front of the entire department.

The Reasonableists, a Pawnee doomsday cult that worships a lizard god known as Zorp, have predicted the world is going to end. Since they have been never correct with their doomsday predictions in the past, no one takes them seriously and Leslie (Amy Poehler) always allows them to hold a night vigil in a park. Chris (Rob Lowe) asks Leslie and Ben (Adam Scott) to join him in monitoring the Reasonableists during their vigil, which makes the two feel awkward since they have not spent much time together since their break-up.

In case the world actually does end, April (Aubrey Plaza) decides to help Andy (Chris Pratt) complete a bucket list that he had written all in the span of a day. Meanwhile, Tom (Aziz Ansari) and Jean-Ralphio’s (Ben Schwartz) company Entertainment 720 is finished, so they decide to hold a huge “end of the world” party in their office since the lease is not up until the next day.

After interviewing Chris, Ben, and Leslie about the vigil, newspaper reporter Shauna Malwae-Tweep (Alison Becker) shows a romantic interest in Ben. Leslie panics and tries to dissuade Shauna from asking him out, but Leslie and Ann (Rashida Jones) later witness Shauna flirt with Ben and ask him to join her at Entertainment 720’s party, which is in full swing. Despite the jubilant atmosphere at the party, Tom feels something is missing, but is pleasantly surprised to find his ex-girlfriend Lucy (Natalie Morales) there.

Leslie panics when Ben prepares to meet up with Shauna at the party, so she makes him join her in seeing an interesting Pawnee site, but she just drives in circles and ends up at an abandoned gas station. Ben sees through Leslie’s plan and tells her their relationship is over and they both need to move on. Leslie later admits to Ron (Nick Offerman) that if the world was going to end she would choose Ben over her political career, but Ron says the world will not end, so Leslie must accept that she has chosen her political career over Ben.

Meanwhile, April and Andy have completed Andy’s bucket list, except for seeing the Grand Canyon. They steal April’s father’s car and begin the 30 hour drive. As expected, the world does not end. Entertainment 720’s party is a huge success and lets out the next morning. Lucy kisses Tom, which completes what he felt was missing. Leslie apologizes to Ben and lets him know that she is fine with him dating. Andy and April arrive at the Grand Canyon and are amazed, but Andy realizes he was actually thinking of Mount Rushmore.

“End of the World” is the sixth episode of the fourth season of the American comedy television series Parks and Recreation, and the 52nd overall episode of the series. It originally aired on NBC in the United States on November 3, 2011.

Leslie (Amy Poehler) hires Tom’s (Aziz Ansari) company Entertainment 720 to organize a meet and greet for her and numerous Pawnee business owners, where she hopes to court their votes for her race for city council, especially the Pawnee Chamber of Commerce’s president Martin Kernston (Nicholas Hormann) of Kernston’s Rubber Nipples. Meanwhile, Andy (Chris Pratt) and April (Aubrey Plaza) are throwing a Halloween party at their house and failed to inform their roommate Ben (Adam Scott), who decides not to confront them directly about it and be passive-aggressive instead.

Leslie is annoyed to discover that the meet and greet is dominated by Entertainment 720 advertisements and images of Tom’s face with hardly any mention of Leslie. When Leslie finally gets some time with Kernston, Tom pulls him aside to discuss Entertainment 720, further angering her. At Andy and April’s party, Ron (Nick Offerman) occupies himself by fixing up their house, asking Ann (Rashida Jones) to help him; he later expresses his gratitude to Ann by giving her a brand new toolbox, making her happy.

Meanwhile, Chris (Rob Lowe) is still dating Jerry’s (Jim O’Heir) daughter, Millie (Sarah Wright), but his raunchy acts with her at the party makes Jerry very uncomfortable, which April notices. Meanwhile, after Ben refuses to directly tell Andy that he is angered by the party, Andy wrestles with him and puts him in a headlock, refusing to let go until Ben says that he is mad. Ben finally becomes angry and accidentally breaks Andy’s nose when he tries to free himself, but Andy is happy that Ben showed genuine anger, and agrees to inform Ben about future plans.

As Leslie is giving a speech to the business owners, Tom interrupts with a huge promotional presentation for Entertainment 720, upstaging her and turning off the crowd and Kernston. Leslie angrily confronts Tom afterwards about his actions, where he admits that Entertainment 720 has gone bankrupt and that Leslie’s meet and greet was his last ditch effort to acquire clients and save the company.

The two reconcile after Tom shows Leslie a video biography of her life that he originally planned to present, and later makes up for ruining the meet and greet by begging (and bribing) Kernston to give Leslie another meeting. As the Halloween party ends, April avenges Jerry by stealing Chris’ keys and throwing them in the trash.

“Meet ‘n’ Greet” is the fifth episode of the fourth season of the American comedy television series Parks and Recreation, and the 51st overall episode of the series. It originally aired on NBC in the United States on October 27, 2011.
