Chloe discovers the gold kryptonite ring and keeps Clark from wearing it. Afterward, Clark helps Oliver to remove the Omega symbol and destroy Darkseid’s control over him. Lionel kidnaps Tess in an effort to transplant her heart into another Lex clone, but Tess gets the upperhand and shoots Lionel.

Darkseid arrives and Lionel trades his soul for Lex’s life. Possessing Lionel, Darkseid confronts Clark, who finally realizes what Jor-El was preparing him for his entire life. Clark accesses his power of flight and vanquishes Darkseid from Lionel’s deceased body.

Newly revived Lex kills Tess, but not before Tess uses a neurotoxin to erase all of Lex’s memories. Clark goes to the Fortress of Solitude and receives the suit Martha made for him before flying away to stop Apokolips from destroying Earth. By moving Apokolips away from Earth, Clark brings hope to humanity and breaks their connection to Darkseid.

The series finale episodes, “Finale” is the 21st and 22nd episode of the tenth season of Smallville and the 216th and 217th episodes overall. It first broadcast on The CW May 13, 2011. By the end of this season, Smallville had become the longest running science fiction television series in North America.

BE THERE AS SMALLVILLE WRAPS UP CLARK KENT’S TEN-YEAR JOURNEY IN AN EPIC TWO-HOUR SERIES FINALE

“Finale” – The story of Clark Kent (Tom Welling) culminates in this epic two-hour series finale as Clark takes the last step to becoming the Man of Steel. “Prophecy” – Clark (Tom Welling) takes Lois (Erica Durance) to the Fortress to get Jor-El’s (voiced by Terrance Stamp) blessing for their marriage. Jor-El bestows a unique wedding gift on the couple – he gives Lois Clark’s super powers so she can see what it’s like to be him for a day. Unfortunately, the Toyman (guest star Chris Gautheir) has returned to Metropolis, so Lois must go up against the notorious villain instead of Clark. Meanwhile, Oliver (Justin Hartley) searches for the Bow of Orion, which he believes will remove the Omega symbol from his skull, and runs into Kara (guest star Laura Vandervoort), who is also on a mission to stop Darkseid. “Dominion” – Tess (Cassidy Freeman) learns that General Slade was found unconscious on a street corner, proof that someone has gained access to the Phantom Zone’s escape portal and sent him back. Clark (Tom Welling) decides to return to the exiled land to make sure other phantoms are not fleeing and is furious when Oliver (Justin Hartley) tricks Clark into taking him along. With Clark’s powers gone, the two are immediately captured by the Zoners who take them to their new leader, Zod (Callum Blue), who is thirsting for revenge on Clark for banishing him to this Kryptonian jail. DC COMICS CHARACTER BOOSTER GOLD ARRIVES FROM THE FUTURE; THE BLUE BEETLE IS BORN!

“Booster” – After everything that happened with the VRA, Lois (Erica Durance) tells Clark (Tom Welling) it’s best to make “Clark Kent” forgettable and awkward so people don’t suspect he’s The Blur. However, the two are stunned when a fame-hungry superhero from the future, Booster Gold (guest star Eric Martsolf, “Days of Our Lives”), sweeps into town and begins making saves and posing for press ops, completely winning over the city of Metropolis. Booster begins his campaign to take The Blur’s place as the “World’s Greatest Superhero” and tries to charm Lois into writing a story about him, but she’s not having his antics and begins her own campaign for The Blur. During one of Booster’s saves, an alien weapon in the form of a scarab falls from a truck and fuses itself to a boy named Jaime Reyes (guest star Jaden Brandt Bartlett), turning him into the Blue Beetle. Unfortunately, Jaime is unable to control the suit and Blue Beetle starts attacking Metropolis. Tom Welling directed the episode written by Geoff Johns (#3X6019). CLARK RETURNS TO THE ALTERNATE UNIVERSE AND RUNS INTO JONATHAN

“Kent” – Clark (Tom Welling) is shocked to find a mirror box in the barn. Clark Luthor surprises him and sends Clark Kent back to the alternate reality where Clark runs into a very angry Jonathan Kent (John Schneider). Meanwhile, back in our reality, Clark Luthor visits Tess (Cassidy Freeman) and tells if she doesn’t side with him he’ll kill her. Lois (Erica Durance) asks Emil (guest star Allesandro Juliani) to help her bring Clark back. ZATANNA GIVES THE GANG A SERIOUS HANGOVER

“Fortune” – After Zatanna sends a magically spiked bottle of champagne to Clark (Tom Welling) and Lois (Erica Durance) for their bachelor/bachlorette parties, the gang blacks out after the toast, only to wake up the next morning and realize they can’t remember anything about the night before. While trying to retrace their steps, Lois realizes she lost her engagement ring and drags Oliver (Justin Hartley) back to the Fortune Casino where she thinks she lost it. The two run into Fortune (guest star James Kidnie), the eccentric casino owner, who accuses them of stealing money from him. CHLOE AND OLIVER ARE KIDNAPPED

“Masquerade” – Chloe (Allison Mack) and Oliver (Justin Hartley) are mistaken for FBI agents investigating Desaad’s (guest star Steve Byers) recent string of murders and the pair are kidnapped by Desaad’s minions. Desaad tries to infect Chloe with the darkness. Meanwhile, Lois (Erica Durance) tells Clark (Tom Welling) he needs to be more careful with his identity and suggests a disguise. (Burbank, California) – Michael Rosenbaum will reprise his role as Lex Luthor in the series finale of SMALLVILLE on Friday, May 13 (8:00-10:00 p.m. ET.)

“I’m delighted to return for the series finale,” says Rosenbaum. “I’m simply doing it for all of the fans out there who made SMALLVILLE the great success it is. I appreciate all of their passion, their relentlessness and even their threats. Ha ha. I can’t wait to hug the old crew back in Vancouver one last time and see all of my old friends once again. Oh, and for Lex to become the badass he’s destined to be.”

Executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders added, “It feels like the stars are aligning, literally. We couldn’t be more excited about having Michael back. And as far as the way he returns, there’ll be no doubt about how Lex becomes the great rival in Clark Kent’s life. He is the villain of the story.”

Rosenbaum exited at the end of season seven after Lex confronted Clark (Tom Welling) in the Fortress of Solitude. Years of secrets came to a head as Clark’s former friend finally discovered the truth about Clark’s alien heritage. The rivalry between the two culminated into a final showdown and crumbled, literally, under an icy avalanche as the Fortress fell. Lex’s body was never found. Now, Lex has risen from the ashes to fulfill his place in destiny as Clark Kent’s greatest nemesis.
