In an effort to help her find out who killed her brother, Toby uses his telepathic gift and discovers a cover-up involving a Chinese crime boss who has a lot to hide from the police. Out of simulcast with its American broadcaster NBC, the episode was also the timeslot winner for A25-54 (557,000) and A18-49 (473,000), and in the key Toronto and Vancouver markets in the same demos. THE LISTENER had more than 2.5 times the audience of THE UNUSUALS (424,000; Global/ABC) and 67% more viewers than THE NATIONAL (645,000, CBC) at 10 p.m.

The two-night, two-episode premiere of THE LISTENER continues tonight with Episode 2 at 7 p.m. ET on SPACE and at 10 p.m. ET on CTV/NBC. In “Emotional Rescue” Toby receives telepathic visions of an explosion, and is then able to save his former foster brother from an apartment fire. But with a reputation as a tweaker and cooker of crystal meth, the victim becomes the suspect.
